Pre-School Program

Our pre-school program is accredited by the National Early Childhood Program Accreditation Commission and the Maryland State Department of Education and is designed to take care of the total developmental needs of your child. We accept children from 2 years to 5th grade. Our program involves formation and clarification of basic concepts in:
  • Language Activities
  • Social Studies
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Physical Development
  • Literature
  • Music
  • Art

Special Subjects:
Spanish, Sign Language, Dance, Music, Art, and Field trips

Also Included:
Breakfast, Two Nutritional Snacks, and a daily family-style Hot Lunch.

Sample Schedule
6:30 a.m. Big Top opens. Children begin to arrive.
7:15 - 8:30 Breakfast is served. Teachers do informal health check.
6:30 - 8:15 Child selected activities. Choices are:
Dramatic play Blocks
Puzzles Music
Computers/Science Learning Games
Writing Library/Puppets
Large Muscle: balance beam, mini trampoline Sensory play: playdough, gravel play
8:15 - 8:30 Clean-up
8:30 - 8:55 Wash and prepare morning snack. Children help prepare blue Jell-O and place gummy fish in it to make individual aquariums.
9:00 - 9:30 Circle Time ... In circle we say the Pledge, sing our "Days of the Week" song, do our "Months Macarena" song and sing our "Weather" song. We discuss the different ways that we use water (drinking, help plants to grow, helping us stay clean, etc.)
Art Time ... Creative expressions using water color paints.
9:30 - 9:45 Toilet and wash up and have snack. (Apple slices, crackers, and juice.)
9:45 - 10:15 Story Time ... "No More Water in the Tub"
10:15 - 11:00 Outdoor play. Sandbox, bikes, balls, water play (weather permitting) and playground equipment.
11:00 - 11:15 Toilet and wash up for lunch.
11:15 - 11:30 Flannel board story - Nursery Rhymes (Rubba Dub Dub Three Men in a Tub with added verses).
11:30 - 12:00 Lunch. Children serve themselves. (Fettuccine Alfredo, peas, applesauce, milk, and cookie).
12:00 - 12:15 Toilet and wash and brush teeth for nap.
12:15 - 12:30 Quiet time on cots, teachers read stories
12:30 - 2:30 Nap. Quiet music played through naptime. Teachers pat children to help them fall asleep, if requested.
2:30 - 3:00 Wake up time, toilet, and wash. Buddy reading time.
3:00 - 3:15 Eat snack that children prepared earlier in the day.
3:15 - 5:00 Wash up. Story time: "Imagination Island." Take a pretend train trip through other classes. When we arrive back to class a lake has appeared. Children sit around the lake and talk about what might be in our lake. Then take a nice cool drink from the pretend lake and sit back to have some stories. (ex: "10 Sly Piranhas," "D.W. All Wet," and a song, "Have you ever gone a fishin'?)
5:30 - 5:45 Mini snack. Pretzel sticks.
5:45 - 6:20 Table top games or puzzles and computers.
6:20 Big Top closes. 10 min grace period until 6:30
